Mexico. The IFT Media and Audiovisual Content Unit concluded the assignment of the Virtual Channels corresponding to all Radio Broadcast Television Concessionaires and Permittees, and publishes the List of Virtual Channels assigned and planned for future assignments, which will be updated directly on the Institute's electronic portal, each time it is assigned, modify or discontinue the use of a virtual channel.
Channels are called "virtual" because their identification can be defined regardless of their physical location. Before Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) only one number per channel was seen on the TV, now the virtual channel is composed of a primary number and a secondary number; for example: 17.1, 20.1, 32.1; this allows The Concessionaires and Permittees to use the corresponding secondary numbers in the event that they make transmissions, through multiprogramming.
This seeks to give greater clarity and simplicity to audiences throughout the country, on the location and subsequent reception of national, regional or local programming.
"Take control and reprogram your TV" is the slogan of the campaign carried out by IFT, Concessionaires and Permittees, aimed at guiding the population to make the necessary adjustments in their receiving equipment.
The List will be permanently available on the Institute's website: www.ift.org.mx, as well as on the microsite www.tdt.mx.
