CRC accompanies tables for best ICT practices

Colombia. In six departments, work groups have been carried out that will facilitate the deployment of infrastructure and improve telecommunications services, to benefit users in the country.

The administrative authorities of Atlántico, Boyacá, Casanare, Cundinamarca, Huila and Magdalena, have had the technical support of the Communications Regulation Commission, the National Spectrum Agency and the ICT Ministry, in the revision of their Territorial Planning Plans.

The sessions, which are chaired by the Secretaries of Municipal Planning, are a space in which explanations of a technical nature in telecommunications are given and the possible barriers or restrictions existing in the deployment of infrastructure identified by the national government are exposed, so that each municipality can advance the pertinent adjustments and thus the citizenship, anywhere in the country, have access to information, online services and your communication has the best quality conditions.

The joint work of the territorial entities and the CRC is the result of the 34 concepts that this entity has issued on the revision of the Territorial Planning Plans due to barriers and / or restrictions on the deployment of infrastructure for telecommunications services.

The CRC has identified that, in some municipalities of the country, for the installation of infrastructure additional requirements are required that do not allow or restrict the deployment of infrastructure, such as: community approval, the generation of specific maps, graphic simulation of visual impact, or extensive isolation to neighboring properties.

In 2015, the national government through the Law of the National Development Plan, Law 1753, in its article 193, urged territorial entities to identify and remove barriers to the deployment of infrastructure in their jurisdictions to guarantee the provision of services such as mobile telephony, digital television and the Internet.
