Argentina. The Argentine government held the First Communications Day where the authorities of the Ministry of Communications and the National Communications Agency received the highest provincial authorities in the matter. The meeting was held in the North Hall of the Casa Rosada and consisted of bringing the tools of the National State to the provinces to begin working together in the search for a connected country.
One of the main objectives of this administration is the elaboration of a New Communications Law, which enshrines all the technological advances of recent years.
The Chief of Staff, Marcos Peña, highlighted the will to ratify a joint work agenda and added: "We must make communications a right. We have to achieve full internet and mobile connectivity." In the same sense, Rogelio Frigerio said that communications can achieve three of the government's great objectives: "Redistribution of wealth, security and the union of Argentines."
The Minister of Communications, Oscar Aguad, said that "officials have to work together to carry out the task entrusted to us by the president to connect all Argentines. Telecommunications are advancing enormously and we cannot be left behind, so we must be fundamental actors in the promotion of technological deployment. The state has to regulate, encourage and be the protagonist of this technological revolution to achieve 'zero digital poverty'".
For his part, the President of Enacom, Miguel De Godoy, listed the work that the entity has been doing for the consolidation of digital convergence and the development of better communications. In turn, he stressed: "We are having a very large backwardness with respect to the world and that we can no longer afford, because today communications generate equality and ultimately with this backwardness what we generate is inequality among Argentines."
Finally, the President of ARSAT, Rodrigo De Loredo, explained what the Federal Internet Plan consists of and how the company has been working on the connection of Argentina. In addition, he invited the provinces to work together so that fiber optics reach every corner of the country.
The day brought together the Minister of Communications, Oscar Aguad; the President of Enacom, Miguel De Godoy; the Secretary of Information and Communications Technologies, Héctor Huici; the Secretary of Investment Promotion, Clarisa Lifsic de Estol; the Coordinator of the Drafting Commission, Silvana Giudici; the Director of Enacom, Heber Martínez; the Executive Manager of Enacom, Agustín Garzón; the General Coordinator of the entity, Mario Frigerio; the President of ARSAT, Rodrigo De Loredo; the Vice President of that company, Henoch Aguiar and the representatives of the provinces of Buenos Aires, Catamarca, Chaco, Chubut, C.A.B.A., Córdoba, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Jujuy, La Pampa, Misiones, Neuquén, Rio Negro, Salta, San Juan, San Luis, Santa Cruz, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero, Tierra del Fuego and Tucumán.
