Chile. With the exhibition of a chapter of the series "Pichintún" of the CNTV, the launch of the project "Television for all", a new inclusive audiovisual format that has sign language, subtitles and audio description, was held at the Hellen Keller School in Nuñoa.
The initiative is part of the "Television for All" project of the ProCultura Foundation -financed through the National Fund for Inclusive Projects FONAPI 2015- of the National Disability Service (SENADIS), the National Television Council (CNTV) and the producer of inclusive solutions 20422, which incorporates universal accessibility to children's and youth programs, offering 68 chapters of various television series on associated channels, through the website of the Cultural and Educational Programming of the CNT.
The activity was attended by the Director of Cultural and Educational Programming Novasur of CNTV, Soledad Suit, the National Deputy Director of the National Disability Service (SENADIS), Viviana Ávila and the Executive President of Fundación ProCultura, Ilonka Csillag; together with teachers and students of the educational establishment.
The Director of the Department of Cultural and Educational Programming of the CNTV, Soledad Suit emphasized the need to continue initiatives such as "Television for all": "From the CNTV we have the permanent concern to provide content to the whole country, and now we must add universal accessibility as a distinctive element of our public policies."
Viviana Ávila, Deputy National Director of the National Disability Service (SENADIS) said: "From the State we must make efforts to advance in the promotion of the rights of people with disabilities, and the project that we present today is an outstanding example of this."
This project seeks to promote the exhibition of inclusive audiovisual material in regional television stations, and then reach all of Chile through the 65 associated regional channels. There will be nine children's and youth productions that will be available on the Novasur site that will include in their format sign language, subtitle and audio description.
Among them, "Pichintún" – an animated series that rescues the daily stories of children who belong to different native peoples of Chile (Aymara, Mapuche and Rapanui) stand out; "At the tip of the tongue", starring three brothers who play to discover the words forgotten by their grandfather, and "The adventures of Ruka", centered on a child who travels the underwater world, among others, all available on the site www.novasur.cl/paratodos.
