IFT authorizes transition of 58 broadcasting permits

Mexico. The Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, decided to authorize the transition of 58 broadcasting permits in various localities to the concession regime established in the LFTR, for which it granted, respectively, an equal number of concessions to use and take advantage of frequency bands of the radio spectrum for public use for the provision of the public service of sound broadcasting.

These are the National Commission for the Development of Indigenous Peoples (CDI), the state governments of Aguascalientes, Chiapas, Michoacán, Morelos, Oaxaca, Querétaro, Quintana Roo and Veracruz, as well as the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur, the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, the Autonomous University of Yucatan, and the University of Guanajuato.

In the same way, the Plenary of the Institute authorized the transition of 15 broadcasting permits of the government of the state of Oaxaca and granted the concession to use and take advantage of frequency bands of the radio spectrum for public use for the provision of the public service of digital broadcast television.

On other issues, the Plenary authorized two transitions from concessions to install, operate and operate public telecommunications networks to single concessions for commercial use, for a period of 30 years, to provide any telecommunications and broadcasting service that is technically feasible, one to a company in the State of Jalisco and another to an individual in the State of Colima. In the same way, it authorized an individual to transfer his concession in the State of Sonora.

On the other hand, in the same session, the Plenary authorized the change of frequency bands of the radio spectrum to a concessionaire that provides services in the states of Sonora and Sinaloa, in the band 410-430 MHz, so that it has continuous spectrum that will allow it to make more efficient use of the radio spectrum. To this end, it was granted a deadline to migrate its users and guarantee continuity in the provision of services.
