Peru. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, through the General Directorate of Authorizations in Telecommunications, held the First Public Broadcasting Hearing of 2016 in the city of Huaraz, in order to disseminate the rules and procedures that apply in broadcasting, as well as to answer queries from the participants.
The audience was informed of the general rules that apply to broadcasting services, including principles, procedures, requirements, deadlines, infringements, penalties and payments applicable to those services. The modalities for granting authorization were also reported.
Likewise, topics related to the applicable technical standards and restriction zones (urban perimeter), control and supervision actions were reported. For this, specialists from the General Directorate of Authorizations and the General Directorate of Control and Supervision in Communications of the MTC were present. CONCORTV also participated, an institution that provided important information on the codes of ethics of broadcasting operators.
During the activity, the MTC absolved doubts, received comments and responded to demands, complaints or concerns from the attending broadcasters. The meeting also allowed the exchange of opinions between MTC specialists, broadcasters and the general public on relevant aspects related to broadcasting services.
The users acquired technical and legal knowledge about the broadcasting services of the provinces of the Ancash region, as well as specific information on the administrative procedures corresponding to the stations of the interested parties.
This public hearing was held pursuant to article 7 of the Radio and Television Act.
