Argentina. The National Government signed an agreement with the Argentine Football Association, AFA, for the televisation of the matches of the First Division Transition Tournament that will continue to be free and open to the public, but that will bring the National State a real saving of 50 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
This agreement, which will end on June 30, 2016, will cost the State about 495 million pesos, which represents, adjusted for inflation, a saving of 50.5 percent. In addition, it covers only the rights of the First Division Transition Tournament.
The objective of the Government and the AFA is to sign a new, broader and more durable agreement before the middle of the year covering the new annual tournament that begins in August and to do so with the approval of the new AFA authorities, where there are elections in June. As part of this negotiation process, an open tender for television rights will be opened.
The agreement was signed at the Government House by the Secretary General of the Presidency, Fernando de Andreis; the president of the AFA, Luis Segura; the general secretary of the entity, Daniel Angelici, and the director of Football for All, Fernando Marín.
The government had already signed an agreement with the national television channels: TV Pública, Canal 9, América, Telefé and El Trece for the transmission of football matches.
All matches (15 per date) will be available on air TV channels and Public TV will complement the coverage of matches broadcast by channels that do not reach the entire country.
Thus, El Trece, Telefé and América undertake to broadcast a minimum of two and a maximum of three matches per date, Public TV will televise between six and eight matches and Canal 9 will offer its screen in case of need for a calendar.
The super classics between Boca and River, on the 6th and 12th dates, will be broadcast simultaneously.
