Latin America. Level 3 Communications won the Best Latin American Wholesale Carrier award at Capacity Magazine's 2015 Global Carrier Awards in Paris on November 3, 2015.
Level 3 won this distinction for the launch of its new submarine cable, which helps increase connectivity between the region and parts of Central America. The new route foresees improved connectivity and route diversity both to and throughout Latin America, which means transmitting data and mobile communications more quickly to several of the most important cities in the Americas, Asia and Europe.
Key facts:
Launch of Level 3 Colombia's submarine cable mooring station in 2015.
The submarine fiber optic cable runs 300 kilometers to the port city of Buenaventura on Colombia's Pacific coast, then extends about 154 kilometers by land to the city of Cali, where it connects to Level 3's national fiber optic network.
The submarine cable allows Colombia to transmit data and mobile communications to major cities throughout the Americas, also providing these cities with greater connectivity with seven of Colombia's most important cities: Armenia, Bogotá, Ibagué, Manizales, Medellín, Pereira and Popayán.
Level 3, in Latin America, won the Best Carrier in Latin America award from Capacity Magazine at the Global Carrier Awards in 2011, 2013 and 2015.
