Argentina. According to new research published by Dataxis, Multiscreen scenario in Latin America, focused on the five largest countries in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico), as of Q4 2014 there were a total of 78.3 million digital TVs installed, 75.8 million HD-ready, 24.8 million connected TVs (Smart TVs) and only 60,900 4K TVs.
Dataxis estimates that in 2018 there will be a total of 135.5 million digital TVs, 120.9 million HD TVs, 58.5 million connected TVs and 1.3 million 4K TVs installed. By that year, digital and HD TVs will be the market standard, while connected and 4K TVs will be the new premium products.
When analyzing the mobile side of the multiscreen, Dataxis assures that there were 300,000 smartphones installed in the five largest countries in Latin America in 2006; by 2010 that figure had risen to 56.5 million. Dataxis estimates that in 2018 there will be a total of 227.4 million smartphones installed, an increase of 302% since 2010. Meanwhile, 12.5 million smartphones were sold in 2010. In 2014 that figure grew 778% to 109.8 million. According to Dataxis, 137.8 million smartphones will be sold in 2018, an increase of 26% compared to 2014.
Continuing with the mobile industry, Dataxis assures that there were 140,000 tablets installed in 2006 in the five markets analyzed. By 2010 that figure rose to 27.6 million. Dataxis estimates that there will be 62.9 million tablets installed in 2018, an increase of 128% since 2010. On the other hand, the number of tablets sold in 2010 was 200,000. By 2014 that number grew 10,700% to 21.6 million. Dataxis estimates that 36 million tablets will be sold in 2018, an increase of 67% since 2014
