Mexico. The Plenary of the Federal Institute of Telecommunications, IFT, resolved to extend for a period of 15 years, counted from December 18, 2017, the concession title to install, operate and operate a public telecommunications network granted to Radiomóvil Dipsa.
The entity determined for this purpose the granting in favor of said company of a concession title for commercial use, for which it is necessary that the concessionaire expressly and in advance manifest the acceptance of the new conditions that the IFT will establish for this purpose.
Among the criteria set out for granting the extension of merit, it was considered that the telecommunications services provided under the concession are public services of general interest whose provision must be guaranteed by the State.
This new concession will allow Radiomovil Dipsa to provide only and exclusively the telecommunications services contained in the original concession, without prejudice to the fact that the concessionaire may transition to a single concession for commercial use, provided that it effectively complies, for 18 continuous months, with the measures that were imposed by the Institute as one of the companies that are part of the Preponderant Economic Agent in the telecommunications sector. For such transit, in due course, the concessionaire company must comply with the provisions of the applicable regulations.
