Gates Air and Aicox Present Radio and TV Solutions

Colombia. Aicox Soluciones, gates Air's distributor in Colombia, held an event in Bogotá in which the novelties in products, technological concepts and solutions for radio and TV over-the-air transmission were presented.

The event was attended by Diego Gilles, in charge of gatesAir's operation in Latin America, and Yazmin Ardila, Commercial Director of Aicox Colombia, among other members of the team that are responsible for product development and sales in both companies.

In the field of radio equipment, they presented a very complete range of products with FM transmitters in analog and digital standards from 50 to 100 watts, with all cooling techniques depending on the user's requirements and with advances applied to air or liquid cooling, in addition to digital processing technologies that support all audio standards, both analog and digital, adding processors of very high performance achieving a high quality audio.

Among the novelties for TV, Gates Air continues with the production of transmitters in all television bands that are currently in the world, developing both analog and digital transmission systems,  including the European DVB T2, as well as the North American ATSC 3.0, a process in which it is working on tests applied in standards worldwide.

New Gates Air projects

According to Andrés Rojas, pre-sales and support engineer at Aicox Colombia, there is currently a high demand for content through mobile devices, which are sought on data-driven platforms, today what is done is to look for an application through the mobile data network where video streaming is shared.

"It is generally observed in important sporting events that closed TV operators or internet offer the possibility for the user to access these contents through the cellular data network but simultaneously data is consumed, if it is taken into account that the mobile telephony is located in the UHF band, mobile devices have been developed with the intention of using this same band", commented Andrés Rojas.

It is there where Gates Air is advancing with a technology that allows mobile devices to receive, through  a broadcast transmitter, video information, it is intended that the cell phone with a small change can receive information broadcast from television transmitters without the need to consume data plan.

This technology is in a stage of development and testing with an agreement between Gates Air and a German university, where consumer trends in mobile devices are analyzed, which are increasing  in applications downloaded by the user in video playback, a process that is not always supported by a mobile phone company or data networks.

How does it work? Making use of the technology called mobile LTE, it is sought in the spaces of the DVB T2 frame to open a time slot and there carry the video that you want to transmit on the mobile, originating the signal reception, releasing the data network without causing consumption of the same and obtaining videos of better quality without problems with the operator in terms of data transmission.
