Chile. The National Television Council carried out the first cadastre with data referring to the general characteristics of regional, local and community channels.
In total, 99 channels from all over the country participated. Most of them began their transmissions after the year 2000 and those who declare that there were periods when they stopped transmitting, attribute it mostly to economic and technical reasons.
Some of the main results of the study were:
- Most channels claim to be over-the-air. 44,4%
- More than half of the channels claim to replicate their content over the Internet. 56,6%
- Whether it's own pages and other open platforms like Vimeo or Ustream.
- More than half of the channels say they broadcast in continuous hours.56.6%
- 66% of the channels say they receive contributions of free programming, among others from independent producers, universities, programs of the CNTV Fund and Novasur, TV channels from abroad, religious organizations.
- 89% of channels do not buy packaged programming.
