Latin America. In the Ibero-American General Secretariat, in Madrid (Spain), the Signing of the Agreement that establishes the framework of collaboration between the Ibero-American Educational and Cultural Television Program (TEIb), Educational Television of the Ministry of Public Education of Mexico and the Latin American Institute of Educational Communication (ILCE) for the creation of the Ibero-American Television Channel was carried out.
The purpose of the event was to comply with the agreements emanating from the XXIV Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in December in Veracruz, Mexico. The leaders of Ibero-America agreed in the Action Program, the creation of the Ibero-American Satellite Television Channel: signal that unites us, with which the production, co-production and exchange of cultural and educational content for the entire region will be made available, favoring social cohesion, the economy and innovation and inclusion of our community in the global era, in accordance with the Ibero-American Digital Cultural Agenda.
Through this Framework Collaboration Agreement, the Ibero-American Channel will be transmitted through the Edusat Network, jointly administered by the General Directorate of Educational Television of the Ministry of Public Education of Mexico, as well as by the Latin American Institute of Educational Communication (ILCE). In this way, the satellite signal will be made available to the TEIb Program through Channel 18 managed by the ILCE of this Network, the most important in Latin America due to its geographical coverage throughout the American continent.
With the above, the map of coverage and scope of the Summits Program is strengthened: Ibero-American Educational and Cultural Television that, together with the transmission and scope of the Hispasat satellite, will give intercontinental visibility through the Ibero-American Channel to all the productions made by the TEIb network that are gradually integrated into the project.
The signal of the Ibero-American Channel is scheduled for autumn of this year. This is built on the experience of TEIb, whose contents reach more than 58 million Ibero-Americans, through more than 63 public service channels, as well as the member institutions of the Association of Ibero-American Educational and Cultural Televisions – ATEI and multiple networks of regional, local televisions and cable systems.
The event was attended by ambassadors from the countries participating in the Ibero-American Summit.
