Argentina. The Federal Authority for Audiovisual Communication Services, ASFA, announced the opening of the seven new lines of the Competitive Development Fund (Fomeca), which will allocate a total of $ 35.2 million, for the financing and strengthening of community, border and indigenous audiovisual communication projects.
AFSCA plans to invest a total of $129,230,000 this year to foster new voices, after funding projects for $45 million in 2014 and $4.75 million in 2013.
The organizations of the sector interested in presenting their projects, will be able to start the process from today in all the AFSCA delegations of the country, according to the bases, conditions and delivery times for each case, which are available in www.afsca.gob.ar/fomeca.
These first lines of fomeca 2015 will be divided according to the following categories: for the acquisition of technical equipment and infrastructure improvements, up to $200,000; for Media Management projects, in their economic, legal and social aspects, up to $280,000; to refurbish stations in emergency, up to $200,000 for radios and $300,000 for TV.
Meanwhile, for audiovisual content production, up to $50,000 will be contested for projects in the format of spots, up to $170,000 for microprograms, and up to $600,000 for weekly thematic programs.
In addition, there will be a line of promotion in the category Communication with identity, aimed at financing projects of communities of native peoples, both for the acquisition of equipment, for up to $ 200,000, and for the production of radio content, for up to $ 80,000.
On the other hand, radio stations and producers may compete in the category of Radio Content Production, for an amount of up to $80,000 for weekly programs, $160,000 for daily programs and $150,000 for information services in the case of stations; while the producers will be able to present themselves for the production of weekly thematic programs, for $ 80,000, and production of community campaigns, for $ 45,000.
In the same framework, AFSCA anticipates the launch of four other development lines before the middle of the year. In this way, the various lines planned for 2015, will put in competition a total of $ 129,230,000, which will strengthen the community sector and indigenous peoples.
Since the creation of FOMECA, at the end of 2013, 411 subsidies have already been granted to community communication organizations and indigenous peoples for almost $50 million, divided into different lines, destined to the financing of equipment purchases, production of audiovisual and radio content and management of community media.
