Colombia. Avid was present with Sony and Assimilate at the 55th Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI) presenting editing workflows from start to finish in 4K.
For the second year in a row, the Avid, Sony and Assimilate brands created a strategic alliance to present complete workflows in 4K from start to finish. Sony, who filmed in the picturesque old walled city for two days under the direction of Alfonso Parra, used the Sony PMW-F55, PXW-FS7 and Alpha 7S cameras to capture the content in 4K.
The material was then delivered to Imanol Zubizarreta, Senior Solutions Specialist for Avid Technology who proceeded with the editing of the material using the industry standard editing program, Media Composer | Software. Vlad Lisboa, Product Specialist for Assimilate, finished the process with the colorization of the material using the Scratch program. The final product was presented over two days to a group of professionals, amateurs and students where the production team explained the complete workflow from start to finish.
The Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival was held from March 11 to 17 in the city of Cartagena, Colombia. The festival, which in 2015 celebrates its 55th anniversary, is the oldest film festival in Latin America and is considered one of the most influential festivals in the film and television industry attracting filmmakers, producers, directors and fans from all over the world.
"This is the second year that we have made this strategic alliance with Sony and Assimilate to bring to the Colombian and international market the latest technology available for the creation and management of content in the ultra high resolution 4K format. We are very satisfied with the results of the event as all the material, which was created, edited and finalized in record time of three days, was presented to a room full of producers, directors and students from all over the world. Thanks to the great success we had, we are considering continuing the alliance and presenting our solutions at other film festivals and possibly as a tour of Latin America," said Ángel Ylisastigui, Marketing Manager for Avid Latin America.
