Broadpeak Continues to Gain Latin Market

Latin America. Four years old, the French company Broadpeak has been gaining ground in the subscription TV operator market with its connected and unconnected network broadcast solutions. And Latin America has played an important role in its growth. 

Arnault Lannuzel, sales director for Latin America of the company, told TVyVIDEO that they have been in the region since 2011 and today they have a presence in Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Uruguay, Panama and the Caribbean. In addition, they have great expectations for the coming years because in Latin America operators are just beginning to offer aggregate services.

"The OTT arrived late in Latin America," said Arnault Lannuzel, and this becomes an opportunity because they will be able to implement it with the latest technologies available in the market. In addition, there is great potential in value-added services such as multiscreen.

 

"These additional services are being added as the market demands it. That's why subscription TV operators must educate users to watch content on other screens, something that today is common only in the youngest."

 

But, the new ways of consuming content with OTT and multiscreen, have left a question how to monetize those services? In this regard, Arnault Lannuzel explained that depending on the type of operator, it is charged or not for these services. TV operators with monthly cost subscriptions, these services are free. But when they're content providers, they charge because it's their only source of income.

 

On the technologies currently being developed by Broadpeak, he mentioned that through their CDNs they seek to solve problems of Pay-TV operators and as a key point the low bandwidth consumption, which has allowed to reduce the costs of implementation and operation of OTT platforms.

In addition, its CDN allows to compute statistics on the behavior of users in front of the localized content. "With our nano CDN, you can distribute content from a live channel and be seen from any screen with a low broadband consumption," he concluded.
