Colombia. Services, products and knowledge are the basis of Outlabs, a technical audiovisual management consultancy that was established at the beginning of this year, but that collects the experience of more than 25 years working in the industry of those who integrate it.
Diana Acosta, commercial director of the company, explained to TVyVIDEO that work is to guarantee the safety of audiovisual work and good design in technical terms. With this premise they intervene in productions ranging from commercials, serials, to feature films. Today they have participations in productions made in Panama, Argentina, Morocco and Colombia.
Among the lines of business that the company serves are the video-assistance along with the management of the color in the set and the control of the look, created by the Director of Photography until the post-production. It handles the computer data from the moment of filming and is in charge of the chain of custody of the filmed material, taking into account that it is the most valuable thing for the producer.
They also provide consultancy in the design and optimization of workflows for production companies and television channels and are distributors of technological material specialized in cinematography, such as the permanent, temporary or transit storage solutions of the company HGST.
"The company is 100% Colombian. Our purpose is to reach anywhere in the world with Colombian staff. We know that the Colombian staff has a great talent that we want to export so that everyone knows them," he said.
And it is that an important part of the daily work of Outlabs is based on the training of the technical personnel that participates in the productions. According to studies conducted by the company, producers are willing to pay more for more trained technical personnel.
"It's time for the coaches to have their revenge," said Diana Acosta. He maintained that technicians have been undervalued and with very small salaries for their function. Therefore, from Outlabs they provide a comprehensive training that proposes a mixture between art, technology and personal growth. To achieve this, one of the latest agreements reached is with a London institute that will be responsible for teaching English courses with technical language.
Future plans are to support the company's growth based on markets such as England, Spain, Morocco and, in general, Eastern European countries. To achieve this, from January they will have an office in Spain.
