Globosat and Caracol prepare channel in the USA

Latin America. Canal Caracol and Globosat reached an agreement to launch in 2015 a new Spanish-language payment channel in the United States, aimed at Hispanic audiences living in that country, which is estimated at 55 million people.


The memorandum (MOU) was formalized this week between Gonzalo Córdoba Mallarino, president of Caracol Televisión, and Alberto Pecegueiro, general director of Globosat.

Alberto Pecegueiro said that one of the objectives of the alliance will be to focus attention on the Spanish-language pay television sector, the fastest growing in the United States.

He commented that "Globosat, with its almost 23 years of existence, accumulated a great experience in the launch of pay TV channels in collaboration with large international groups. In relation to Caracol, we admire the quality of one of the largest producers of dramatized content in Spanish, in addition to identifying with its culture, its values and its business vision."

For his part, Gonzalo Córdoba Mallarino highlighted the alliance and said that Globosat is "the partner that we all want to have in this long-term project and with which we seek to strengthen our current presence in the U.S. Hispanic market."

According to the representatives of both companies, the idea is to offer a new programming option that serves Hispanic American consumers with contemporary television entertainment and high-quality production.
