Colombia. By means of Resolution 2098 of 2014, the National Television Authority extended by another week the deadline for interested parties to submit their comments on the evidence and allegations of conclusion established in Resolution 2078 of 2014.
This issue is related to the conflict that is currently presented by the high definition signal of the private open signal channels Caracol and RCN, which intend to charge THE TV operators by subscription for the retransmission of said signal.
This decision was taken in order to provide the necessary guarantees for those interested in administrative action to intervene and present the arguments they consider necessary to establish and support their positions. In addition, responding to the requests of the Telecommunications Company of Bogotá and Telefónica, who requested to extend the deadline.
And precisely on this issue a pronouncement of the Attorney General's Office was known, requesting the ANTC to guarantee information pluralism and access to television. In its communication, the control entity points out that subscription television operators guarantee through their systems the access of Colombians to public and private national and regional open television signals, at no cost to the user.
While the consultations continue and decisions are awaited by the ANTV, the Superintendence and other regulatory entities that advance processes on this case, the HD signal of Caracol and RCN continues to be turned off for Pay-TV operators.
