International. The Advanced Media Workflow Association, Inc., AMWA, the association that focuses on file-based workflows to benefit content creators, awarded MXF AS-11 certification to the company Cinegy.
The MXF is a set of rules on which a specific application must be based as a common broadcast format 1. For its part, the AS-11 is a separate subset of the MXF file format provider for the delivery of finished programming or of producers and distributors of programs of the stations.
It also defines a minimum set of central metadata required in all AS-11 files, a metadata schema of the program's segmentation, and allows the inclusion of custom metadata for a specific wedge in the MXF file.
"As the first company in the industry with AMWA MXF AS-11 certified products, you can create, modify, review and play files that you can trust. The AS-11 certification further reinforces Cinegy's position as a leader in software technology based in the broadcasting industry," said Jan Weigner, CEO and co-founder of Cinegy.
Originating in June 2012, the AMWA MXF AS-11 Application Specification allows file sharing processes to be simpler, favoring content providers to create one version for delivery instead of many.
Brad Gilmer, AMWA Chief Executive Officer, said: "We are very pleased that Cinegy has been awarded the first certification for AS-11 and I am confident that other suppliers will now follow quickly. As AMWA we can only highlight the importance of certified interoperability. Official certification is an area that we are pushing very hard."
