Colombia. Due to the discontent generated among community television entities in Colombia, the new regulation issued by the National Television Authority (ANTV) through Resolution 433, the entity decided to extend the term for three months.
Consequently, the deadline that expired on the tenth of August is extended until the tenth of November. The guarantees referred to in Resolution 433 must cover the sum of the compensation payments that the licensees make to the ANTV and the sanctions that the entity may impose in the framework of the surveillance and control activities.
The additional time of three months will also be applied so that the more than 700 community television providers in the country provide the ANTV with the written manifestation of knowledge and understanding of the current regulations. Therefore, this maturity is extended until the same date.
Likewise, because the communities have requested clarifications on the new compensation scheme, the ANTV decided that the first payment under the new system will now correspond to the two months of July and August 2013 with a payment deadline of September 25, 2013 and that the compensation value corresponding to the period January-June 2013 will be made in accordance with the methodology used in the last self-assessment they submitted.
