Mexico. A court in his country denied him the authorization sought by the Telmex company to provide the subscription television service, which required the modification of its concession contract, which currently allows it to offer telephone services.
The petition of the Mexican company, owned by billionaire Carlos Slim, had been filed due to the rejection of its request by Mexico's Ministry of Communications and Transportation in 2011.
Now, if Telmex, a company that offers tripleplay services in Latin America, that is, pay television, internet, and telephony, wants to insist on its interest in entering Mexico with the pay television service, it must begin to request authorization from scratch.
But a new process will not be easy either, because it will have to be processed before the new government of Mexico, of President-elect Enrique Peña Nieto, whom his detractors accuse of being on the side of Televisa, a company that has a significant percentage of the pay television market in that country.
Although it should be remembered that the president-elect said on different occasions during the campaign that the intention of his government was to democratize and improve the offer of the television industry in Mexico, this could generate some hope for Telmex.
So far the company has not announced what its plans will be after the decision.
