Latin America. The company América Móvil, owned by Mexican businessman Carlos Slim, reported an increase in its number of subscribers to the cable television service.
According to information provided by the company, they currently have 14 million customers and have a positive growth rate, close to 23,000 users per month; in fact, by the end of this year an increase in the number of subscribers of 20% is expected in Latin America alone.
This is very important when you consider that the pay-TV segment contributed 8.1% of the company's revenue in the first quarter of the year.
Despite the above, the great challenge of the company, which operates in 16 countries in the region, is to be able to offer this service in Mexico, a country in which the regulatory authorities have not yet authorized its operation in this niche.
This is due, above all, to a concern about the dominance of Slim's companies in other market sectors such as mobile telephony, in which he manages 70% of the Mexican market.
