Mexico. For non-compliance with the regulations, which includes cases such as refusing to deliver the requested information, as well as in matters related to the rates they charge for their services, the Comisión Federal de Telecomunicaciones, Cofetel, approved sanctioning procedures against Telmex, Cablevisión, Axtel and Telcel.
As explained in the regulatory entity, in the case of Telmex it was due to the refusal to deliver the information requested by the entity, after having been formulated a request for information to better know the way in which it has been providing the service.
For their part, Telcel, Cablevisión and Axtel, will be sanctioned for violating the agreement establishing the procedure for the registration of tariffs for telecommunications services, "because from the reviews carried out it is clear that they carried out various acts before having the proof of registration of rates that would have empowered them to carry out them", said Cofetel.
After confirming these facts, the plenary session of the Cofetel board of directors decided to propose to the Ministry of Communications and Transport the initiation of the sanctioning procedure against these concessionaires.
Another operator that is being investigated by the Supervision and Verification Unit of cofetel, is Operbes, because the documentary review carried out on its file resulted in various breaches of the obligations established in its concession title.
Due to the irregularities found, the regulatory body issued a circular, indicating the conduct to be observed by the inspectors/visitors of the Supervision and Verification Unit and that will be delivered to each concessionaire, at the time that the Commission staff begins the visit.
