Chile. The telecommunications company Entel has decided to venture into the satellite television business; the company, which has already done service tests, plans to launch the project this year for the Chilean territory.
Faced with the onslaught of its competitors, Entel wants to expand its range of offers and add to fixed telephony services with wireless technology and mobile broadband, digital television. In addition, its expansion plan contemplates reaching countries such as Peru and Colombia.
With the arrival of the cable television operator VTR, in a market where the Mexican América Móvil and the Spanish Movstar participate, Entel faces stiff competition this year.
For this reason, it has planned investments of about U.S$ 900 million this 2012, also the development of information technology (IT) is also among its focuses.
