Latin America. With the aim of turning Latin America into an important region in the industry of films and series for free, with the advertising model, Sony Picture Television started its Crackle platform in 17 Spanish-speaking countries.
Brazil was the first country in the region to have the Crackle service, since it launched last month it offers a billboard with about 150 titles, with new weekly additions from production companies such as Columbia Pictures, TriStar Pictures, Screen Gems and Sony Pictures Classics, among others.
The contents will be offered in original version and with subtitles or dubbing in Spanish. This platform debuted a year ago in the United States and has 16 million unique visitors per month; it also operates in the UK, Canada and Australia.
This impulse rectifies the trend that Internet television is marking in the world and that transmissions through the Internet, mobile phones, PCs, laptops, tablets and other mobile devices, is an increasingly competitive market in the region.
Sony's webcasts already serve countries such as Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
