Argentina. The legal problems facing the portal Cuevana since the end of 2011 do not stop. To the lawsuit against him that the Argentine justice failed, forcing the portal to withdraw the series of the Warner production company, now follows the process that HBO presented against him.
The latter also filed a legal action in 2011 against the creator of Cuevana, Tomás Escobar, but this week he decided to expand the process and add nine more people, accused of collaborating directly with the portal.
And it is that in different statements, the representatives of HBO in Latin America have assured that they will continue to exercise the necessary legal actions to dismantle the international network of Cuevana and prevent piracy from continuing to take advantage of the contents made by them.
This decision adds to other problems that the portal has had after the closure of Megaupload, which provided about 30% of the titles of films and series it offers.
But Cuevana will not sit still. Tomás Escobar said, after learning of HBO's decision, that "never in life will I pay royalties for a movie or a series. If they close Cuevana to me, tomorrow I open another place."
In addition, the portal has a notice on its homepage that invites independent directors and producers to submit their productions to be published, stating that "we consider it necessary to open a section of requests so that producers / content directors can work with us and reach a new, massive, and evolving audience day by day: Internet."
