Mexico. The Aztec country joined the current trend of offering television services via the Internet with the launch of a new alternative of this type. Yuzu is the name of the initiative proposed by the telephony service provider Maxcom Telecomunicaciones and that was presented at the end of September, a few weeks after Netflix made a presence in Latin America.
According to the company, the novelty presented by its proposal is the possibility of operating with a reduced bandwidth and the transmission of live programs. However, its price is slightly higher than that of its main competitor; while the service offered by Yuzu costs US $ 11, the American company Netflix offers its packages currently at US $ 8 in that country.
According to statements by Gabriel Cejudo, maxcom's vice president of marketing, to the Mexican media, an internet connection of 0.5 MB will be enough to enjoy the programming offered with excellent quality, in addition to noting that Yuzu will have movies on demand and live content from 20 television channels among which HBO stands out, Fox and Latin American stations.
Cejudo further reiterated that Yuzu's technology is designed to allow constant transmission as well as optimal image quality despite fluctuations in connection speed, a common problem in the region.
