Mexico. Televisa reported that during the second quarter of 2011 it suffered a slight decrease in its net profits by 0.04% to 1,803.6 million pesos (US$154 million), compared to 1,804.3 million pesos between April and June 2010.
However, its net sales increased thanks to better figures in the Pay-TV and content export sectors. That is why in this reubro they registered 15,125.7 million pesos (about US $ 1,200 million), an increase of 4.7% compared to the same quarter of 2010.
The depreciation and amortization of 290.9 million pesos (US$24,000) caused part of the decline in its profits, according to the company, "as a result of the continued growth of our subscriber base," and an increase of 181.6 million pesos (US$15 thousand) in the participation in losses of affiliated companies.
On the other hand, Televisa attributes the increase in its net sales "to growth in most of our business segments, particularly in programming exports, Sky (its satellite pay-TV operator), cable and telecommunications," the company said in an official statement.
