. This year more than 25% of all flat screens will have some form of Internet connection, according to a new report by DisplaySearch, which indicates that 138 million units with this technology will be sold in 2015, that is, 47% of the total in the world.
The "Quarterly TV Features and Design Report" reveals that by the end of the year in question, more than 500 million TVs with an Internet connection will be sold in total.
Several factors will influence the growth of this technology. For example, the WiFi service allows TVs to work in a more practical way with manageable devices, such as smartphones and tablets. The DisplaySearch study says that more than 98 million TVs with 802.11 wireless network will hit the market in 2015.
According to Paul Gray, director of TV electronics research, 35% of 46-inch or larger TVs in North America will be smart by 2015. This technology has the ability to retrieve content from the Internet without the restrictions of a portal; conduct smart searches and make recommendations; be updated by their owners and connect seamlessly to the network with other household appliances.
