Since the transition to digital television is already a fact, the large equipment manufacturers are focused on the development of systems that facilitate this process and, in addition, allow new possibilities for the creators of images and audiovisual content.

This is the case of Sony, which for many years has marked the steps to follow in terms of the use of equipment for the complete production of television that recently presented its new tools.

This time we will mention only the cameras, but clarifying that they are part of a complete line of products for high definition digital television that includes cameras, vtr ́s, tapes, monitors, switchers, and other equipment that cover the entire process from the acquisition or recording of the images to the advantages of a telecine system adapted to these new possibilities.

Although there are other players of great importance that are also presenting very interesting proposals for the production of digital video, this manufacturer already has a complete line of products designed for the transition and for the new ways of producing content. In this way, you can find the possibilities to make digital television SDTV or HDTV as you prefer and according to the scope of your budget. The new line of native multi-format cameras was announced by Panasonic as the AK-HC900 HD series. This proposal presents basically the same capture options: 1080/60i, 1080/24P, 720/60P in high definition standards and 480/60i for standard video definition. Each HD standard is native and can be selected for optimal image resolution.

The AK-HC900 series incorporates a complete digital signal process developed specifically for low noise and high image quality. It is a line designed for field and studio production that can offer standard definition and high definition signals in both interlaced and progressive register.

For its part, Sony officially presented a very solid option with its new HDW-F900 24P HDCAM camera. This camera tries to become the alternative for the production of high quality television programs for PrimeTIme schedules and as an excellent option for the production of television films, documentaries and commercials. It is actually a complement to the 24-frame film production. Sony is, together with major manufacturers of optics and accessories, developing a series of new tools that make this camera especially friendly with users who come from cinematographic work. In fact, Panavision designed and developed lenses for specific use in these cameras.

The HDW-F900 24P HDCAM features high flexibility and the ability to select image capture between three different progressive rats: 24/25/30P as well as the possibility of selecting between 50 or 60 interlaced.

In addition to this, Sony also offers the HDC-900 and HDC-950 models for high-definition image acquisition designed for studio operations and the latter as a portable system for similar applications. It also presents the capture options to different rats such as 1080i in 60i or 50i, 1080P in 30P, 25P or 24P for digital television production worldwide. This new camera system not only serves hd 1080 production but also provides optional 720P outputs and the full range of SD (Standard Definition) outputs at 480P, 480i or 576i. In addition, it includes the new options to obtain maximum quality in traditional NTSC or PAL formats. These cameras also support the production of DTV (Digital Television) in 24P High Definition and film production applications.
