The Colombian Film Heritage Foundation is a non-profit mixed participation entity, which aims to rescue and put at the service of the development of the country and the regions, its history recorded in moving images, from the origins to the present day.
To fulfill this purpose, the Foundation carries out, among others, the following priority tasks:
- Locate and inventory all the films and television productions that have been made in the country, or outside it about Colombia or by Colombians.
- Preserve film, video and other media materials, storing them in appropriate conditions, technically diagnosing their physical condition.
- Restore those materials and preserve them by duplicating them in specialized laboratories.
- Collect in the documentation center and consult all the information related to the history of moving images in Colombia and in the world.
- Classify and catalog the collections of moving images as well as those of documentation, posters, photographs and devices that complement our audiovisual history.
- Allow the consultation and use of these archives and organize dissemination programs inside and outside the country, so that in this way they become very useful work tools for all scholars of our past, as well as new filmmakers of film, television and video productions.
