Since the creation of the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) in 1995, the permanent objective has been to promote the development of all the telecommunications systems that technology allows them to use, in an environment of strict adherence to the international norms and conventions to which we are a party.
In our particular case, the Government of President Gustavo Noboa Bejarano, decided to open the telecommunications sector to competition on September 14, without forgetting the fundamental element of the Ecuadorian people, that through the Telecommunications Development Fund, in any corner of the Ecuadorian geography where they live, be a beneficiary of technological advances and integrate into the economy.
The importance of telecommunications in economic activity is fundamental. This element can make a country more or less competitive than others, and for this, CONATEL, analyzes and solves everything that allows the country to progress.
Our goal is for all Ecuadorians to be part of this development of telecommunications.
The main objective of CONATEL is to represent the State to exercise, on its behalf, the functions of administration and regulation of telecommunications services, and is the Telecommunication Administration of Ecuador before the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). It is also the executing entity for the administration and regulation of telecommunications in the country.
