An unparalleled evolution

As Mexico is one of the most important markets for the Spanish-speaking broadcast industry, the adoption of technology is very dynamic.

Sistemas Digitales en Audio y Video is a company with 31 years of experience in both broadcast and professional audio and video. It began with the distribution of solutions for the broadcast area, with the strategy of delivering immediately and at any time.

Enrique Gutiérrez, general director of the company, recalled in conversation with TVyVideo+Radio that in its beginnings, in the marathon sessions of the Chamber of Deputies, they could call him at 2 or 3 in the morning because they required some solution urgently, and he had to take it because that was his commitment.

In the second year of the company they started with the distribution of Belden and to this day they remain its representative. Today they also have in their portfolio the solutions for graphics, virtual sets, character generator and augmented reality of Ross Video, among other companies.

Unparalleled evolution
With his more than three decades of experience in the industry, Enrique Gutierrez has witnessed an evolution that is unparalleled in any other industry he knows.

He assured that "streaming television is prevailing in this market and the technologies that apply for this type of companies are sometimes not the same as those of broadcast. Television stations are still facing a challenge to join all this and have been taking different strategies to respond to this technological revolution."

He went on to explain that "In addition to that, there is a constant change of technologies, virtualization, artificial intelligence, IP communication, the future of connectivity, it seems that everything is changing. What was once hardware, is now gradually becoming software and is an issue that forces us, as we have done all our lives, to be constantly updating, it cannot be stopped. The important thing is to be able to understand those changes that are taking place. Not only us, but also the users."

Adoption of technologies
According to the experience of Sistemas Digitales en Audio y Video, Mexico has traditionally been a country that quickly adopts new technologies, it has always had a very dynamic pace with technology acquisitions. Mainly because there are some of the most important companies in the world of broadcast in Spanish and that makes it have a huge market worldwide with the distribution of content.

"Many purchases are made after visiting a large expo, such as the NAB Show, IBC, or the others out there. It draws a lot of attention as the way to distribute and deliver the contents of managing them, of uploading them to the cloud, which until a few years ago were simply concepts, today they are a reality, "added Enrique Gutiérrez.

In this technological evolution, Sistemas Digitales has reacted by adopting new brands for the market that can be managed with virtualization, artificial intelligence, among other novelties, in addition to the brands that it has traditionally represented and that have also been updated. There are about 30 brands that include the company's portfolio, not only sell the product, they also provide support.

Looking to the future
Guadalupe Flores, product manager of Digital Systems in Audio and Video, highlighted some trends in technology that will be important for the industry in the medium term:
- Wireless solutions supported in 5G for the coverage of live events and places where there is no good communication, all the projection is at higher bandwidth.
- Artificial intelligence
- Virtualization
- IP communication

"5G is something very incipient but tests are already being done. For the broadcast industry, it will mainly facilitate many operations, especially because of the speed and the possibility of doing remote operations, because it will revolutionize the automated internet," he concluded.
