With German transmitters, cameras from the United States, Cuban technical personnel and Colombian talent, on June 13, 1954, the first signal of Colombian television was broadcast. A decade later, the plan to take it to all corners of the country would begin with the installation of transmitters and that would be the beginning of a medium that would bring families together around the screen.
Colombian television has been constantly evolving. In terms of content, it began with live programs, novels that reflected the customs of the different regions of the country, as well as great works of literature, contests with family content and musical and humor programs.
With the arrival of the private television genres in 1998, television took on a new air and the content became more generalist, aiming at a global audience, which could be marketed, seen and understood anywhere in the world, and bringing to the country new formats such as reality shows.
And not to mention technology. We went from black and white television to increasingly better image quality, until today we talk about 8K. The way to access content went from being a single screen in the home that gathered families around it at a certain time, to the viewer being able to choose when and where to watch it, which means that today channels are content production companies for multiple platforms.
These are just a few examples of how a medium of communication such as television has evolved in technical and production, continuing to be the main option for entertainment and information.
