Google buys Bump, the app that allows you to transfer files by crashing phones

Google compra Bump, la app que permite transferir archivos chocando los teléfonos

MADRID, 17 Sep. (Portaltic/EP) -

Google has acquired the 'start-up' Bump, the company in charge of the development of the app of the same name that allows users to transfer files from one phone to another by physically colliding both terminals. Although none of the companies has clarified the total cost of the application, the Bump team joins Google's although the Bump application will continue to work as before.

The Mountain View giant continues to expand its portfolio of acquisitions. Like other giants in the sector, Google has been focused for several years on the acquisition of companies and start-ups that allow it to continue improving its services. One of the most significant was the purchase a few months ago of the real-time maps and traffic service Waze, a system that Google has used to improve Google Maps.

Now, Google has focused on file transfer with the purchase of Bump. This 'start-up' has an application, of the same name, which allows you to share photos, contacts and applications just by colliding two mobiles. To do this, both mobile phones must be synchronized and detect the movement so that the transfer of the selected files between the two phones takes place.

Bump CEO and co-founder David Lieb has shown his joy at this acquisition through the company's official blog. "We couldn't be more excited to join Google, a company that shares our belief that applying computing to difficult problems can fundamentally change the way we relate to each other and to the world."

Lieb also wanted to make it clear that the team always works with the intention of offering the best service to its customers. "Our mission at Bump has always been to build the simplest tools to share the information you care about with other people and devices."

After the union between the American giant and the 'start-up', both companies will continue with the development of the Bump and Flock applications.
