Gowex enters Brazil in time for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics

Gowex entra en Brasil a tiempo para el Mundial 2014 y las Olimpiadas 2016

MADRID, 26 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish firm Gowex has entered Brazil with the help of the operator Oi, with which it has signed a roaming agreement to promote WiFi access for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games to be held in the South American country.

Thanks to this bilateral agreement, both the users of the Brazilian Oi and those of Gowex will benefit from the thousands of WiFi points that both companies have spread around the world.

Specifically, Oi's WiFi network extends through the main cities of Brazil ranging from Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo or the capital itself, Brasilia, as well as other regions of the world. In the same way, the clients of the Brazilian firm will be able to enjoy WiFi Internet connection in the more than 70 cities that Gowex reaches. In addition, users of both companies will be able to connect to the networks of the rest of the members of the Spanish company's roaming platform such as, among others, AT&T, the Asian PCCW or Deutsche Telekom.

Regarding Brazil, the penetration of mobile technology in this country amounted to 133.25% in February 2013, with 263 million lines in activity as well as 65.68 million accesses in mobile broadband.

Gowex has also highlighted that the "attractiveness" of the Oi network is "even more evident" if one takes into account the millions of visits that are expected before the "big" events that the country will host in the coming years and the prominence of Brazil as an emerging economy and "great" growth.

The telecommunications group explained that the entry into Brazil, a "key" country within its strategy, reflects the correct execution of the growth plan in order to reach the 300 main cities in the world.

For Gowex CEO Jenaro Garcia, Brazil was a "priority" for the company. "This agreement will allow us to be present in the best showcase in the world in the coming years and we are proud that this is possible with a great like Oi," he said.
