Samsung starts its campaign to fight breast cancer one more year

Samsung inicia su campaña para combatir el cáncer de mama un año más

Samsung launches a solidarity campaign through which it will allocate 1 euro for each pink accessory sold, to research to combat breast cancer. With this initiative they want to sensitize society and especially women that this disease has a cure.

Samsung, a leading company in mobile telephony, today presented the 'More than words' campaign in collaboration for the seventh consecutive year with FECMA, the Spanish Federation of Breast Cancer. This initiative is part of a global program that the company develops at European level in favor of the fight against breast cancer.

The presentation took place at the 'Ramses Fast & Food' event centre in Madrid and was enlivened by the 'Chambao' group. The event was presented by Celestino García, Director of Samsung's Telecommunications Division, who commented that: "Samsung always tries to support research projects so that diseases can be eradicated at some point."

María Antonia Gimón, member of the Board of Directors of FECMA; and Dr. Marina Pollán, epidemiologist at the Carlos III Health Institute, spoke about the importance of early detection of this disease.

María Antonia has indicated that cancer will no longer be an unattainable battle thanks to support such as Samsung, at a time when financing is disappearing due to the crisis. "In research and knowledge is the hope of all."

The representative of FECMA has also highlighted the feeling of many women who, like her, have felt closely what a cancer is, and has assured that "Life is difficult but it is worth living. In the face of breast cancer, the future will always be better than the present."

Dr. Marina Pollán however has focused more on the figures revealed by the studies: "Cancer is the most important health problem for women, there are 1,400,000 new cases a year and 26,000 of them are Spanish. Research is basic to the cure of this disease."

Finally, Celestino García has pointed out that all models of phones and tablets have pink accessories available, which can be found at any usual point of sale from today. "In other years we have raised 500,000 euros, let's hope that this year we are not left behind."
