LISBON, 31 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) -
The Portuguese telecommunications operator Portugal Telecom (PT) obtained a net profit of 227.9 million euros in the first half, 13.8 percent below the result of the previous year that benefited from the impact of the sale of Brasilcel to Telefónica.
PT's turnover increased by 45 percent to €2,668.8 million, following the proportional consolidation of Oi and Contax since April 1, 2011, since, without taking these assets into account, the group's turnover from operations would have decreased by 5.3 percent as a result of the decline in revenues in Portugal.
In fact, fixed-line turnover fell 5.5 percent from the first half of 2010, while mobile revenue fell 11.6 percent.
In the second quarter, PT obtained a net profit of 98.1 million, 40.2 percent less, while its turnover grew by 92.6 percent, to 1,797.7 million.
