United States. A study conducted by Knowledge Networks revealed that out of five houses two have a TV with an Internet connection in their living room, but very few use all its features. In addition, it was found that almost half of the owners of this technology (47%) prefer to watch TV in the traditional configuration.
"Internet-connected TVs are now a dominant technology in homes, but today their use tells a different story," said David Tice, vice president and chief account officer of Knowledge Networks.
The study indicated that consumers like the flexibility that Internet programming offers for their TV, but they still resort to watching the live TV format. Even 23% of respondents revealed that they prefer to connect their DVD when they want to watch TV at night.
However, factors such as having poor image and download quality are no longer a problem for those who want to watch TV on demand. The survey reveals that two-thirds of Internet TV users believe that the quality of image and sound is equal to or even better than that of a regular television broadcast.
