The ATSC Forum, the entity in charge of promoting the adoption of the US atSC digital television standard in Latin America and the Caribbean, ended its operations in September.
This organization was created in 2001 as an entity of the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and, therefore, its closure will not affect the operation of ATSC.
"The ATSC Forum played an important role in bringing digital television to a variety of countries in the Americas and Asia. ATSC digital television services are now available to an estimated 500 million people worldwide," said Mark Richer, president of ATSC.
The closure of this entity will not interfere with the process of adopting DTV standards in other countries in the region.
