Broadcast Pix Inc. announced in mid-June that La Voz de María, a new cable channel recently put into service in the Dominican Republic, chose the Slate™ 1000 live production system for the religious programs it broadcasts to the Latino Catholic audience.
Located in La Vega, La Voz de Maria selected the Slate 1000, which can be controlled by a single operator, because it is HD ready and can be updated with the simple change of a card. Currently, the channel's 12-hour daily programming is received only in the Dominican Republic, but there are plans to ship it in less than a year via satellite to Mexico and the U.S. Hispanic market. The studio is equipped with three Panasonic AG-HVX200 P2 cameras, and a fourth for remote production. The Slate 1000 is described as a complete, economical package with performance comparable to larger systems. The equipment integrates a 2-M/E control panel, video switcher, multiviewer, CG and clip storage, among other properties.
