Omneon launched a new line of modular components, the MediaPort 6000, with which it expands the support of your Spectrum servers. The first component Spectrum available in the new series is the MediaPort 6101, that provides real-time recording and playback of material DVCPRO HD, one of the most popular HD formats of acquisition and editing.
With the MediaPort 6101, broadcasters can easily integrate DVCPRO HD into streams of existing work, while protecting your investments in the acquisition of equipment. Earlier this year, Omneon had Released mediaPort 5300 series for HD MPEG 2.
The addition of DVCPRO HD increases Omneon support for HD format production and allows to provide the market with all the advantages of the system Spectrum, including flexibility, scalability and reliability Geoff Stedman, Vice President of Marketing Omneon global. On a server platform, now we support most formats for the complete chain of broadcast, from acquisition to broadcast.
With the new MediaPort 6101, the Raw incoming video content can be encoded in real-time, creating editable DVCPRO HD files, inside the Omneon Spectrum system. Files can also be transferred to an Omneon Spectrum system from publishers DVCPRO HD compatible, as well as from Final Cut Pro. Records DVCPRO HD can be encoded by the MediaPort 6101 for a playback on air.
The new module connects easily to any existing Spectrum server to add new DVCPRO HD functionality, and can be mixed with other MediaPorts from Omneon for SD within the same system. The addition of a new MediaPort to an existing server does not imply displacements of previous technologies and, in many cases, it can be performed while the system remains online.
The Omneon MediaPorts are interface adapters for video, audio, timecode, and control, and are available to support a wide range of video compression formats. As with all components of the Spectrum system, MediaPorts can be included in initial configurations or being added to servers that are already online. Omneon Spectrum systems can support multiple MediaPorts for multichannel and mixed format requirements.
