According to the sports channel, these new studios, located in Mexico City, are the first in the region to have the latest technological advances and the only ones that since their conception were designed to operate completely in High Definition.
Beginning in January 2011, Fox Sports programming will be produced and broadcast entirely on HD technology. The studios are also equipped with 3D graphics systems that will allow them to offer new ways to showcase products and create animations in real time.
The new Fox Sports facilities were designed, adapted and integrated by Comtelsat, a Mexican company with more than 15 years of experience in telecommunications, who is also responsible for operations.
Within the infrastructure that Comtelsat installed in these new studios are: a team of HD cameras studio version and portable cameras with recording in solid state memory, capable of recording in both HD and SD; Tapeless installations with a K2 multi-format video server system, from Grass Valley, in addition to a long-term storage system in a library of 950 LTO5 cartridges; Apple's Final Cut HD systems and Grass Valley's Aurora Edit systems, all connected in a network environment; ENPS (Electronic News Production System) system; and Media Asset Management Diva system, from Front Porch, among others.
The intercommunication between studios, master controls and other Fox Sports facilities in the United States and Argentina is based on Riedel's Matrix Intercom system. Likewise, these studios are the first in Latin America to be equipped with the Video Kayenne Switchers, from Grass Valley, which are prepared to operate in 3D. As for the 3D real-time graphics system, this will be supported by Vizrt.
