LaCie and Hitachi announced a partnership to develop three external drives for both home and business users. LaCie selected the Hitachi Deskstar 7K500 500GB hard drives for its 2TB Biggest F800, 500GB Ethernet Disk mini and 2TB Bigger Disk Extreme storage solutions. Hitachi has incorporated a number of unique design features, which make the 500GB hard drive ideal for digital video editing, raid storage and other broadband.
The following LaCie solutions include Hitachi Deskstar 7K500 internal hard drives:
- The LaCie Biggest F800 is a Raid subsystem that offers a very high level of data protection for professionals who need 2TB data storage security. Supports Raid levels of 0, 0+1, 5 and Raid 5+.
- LaCie Ethernet Disk mini is a networked hard drive for use at home or in small offices with a storage space of 500 GB. Anyone connected to the Ethernet Disk mini can instantly share files via a fast Ethernet connection without installing drivers. In addition, the drive can be connected via USB 2.0 to individual computers.
- LaCie Bigger Disk Extreme is a compact and robust drive, designed to support multiple streams and audio/video editing in a variety of formats, with input transfer rates of up to 85 MB/s and 2 TB capacity. A true plug-and-play device, the LaCie Bigger Disk Extreme has a built Raid 0 configuration.
