Link Research showed at IBC 2005 LinkHD, its first camera system wireless digital for high definition television. The company has added a new HD receiver to the prototype transmitter presented in demonstration during this year's NAB event and now it is available to fulfill purchase orders for the complete system of wireless digital cameras for HD TV.
LinkHD is an end-to-end high definition system. This means that it maintains all the detail and resolution of the HD format for television images throughout the transmission.
Link Research has achieved this by applying its own high-efficiency MPEG modulation and compression techniques from the company. In this way, it has achieved a high-definition wireless digital camera system with low transmission delays, low power requirements and a robust diversity signal.
Link Research expects the LinkHD to match the robust RF performance of the LinkXP standard definition system, which Link launched three years ago. LinkXP SD is now a very well-established product, with hundreds of users at broadcast companies, equipment rental houses and companies specializing in wireless cameras.
As with the LinkXP system, the LinkHD's performance and low delay make it suitable for use in live broadcast productions, alongside other non-wireless HD cameras.
LinkHD has a bit rate between 18 and 50 Mb/s. The frequency range is 1.95 - 2.7 GHz or 3.4 - 3.6 GHz, and supports all hd broadcast formats: 1080i 59.94Hz, 1080i 60Hz, 1080i 50Hz, 720p 59.94Hz, 720p 60Hz and 720p 50Hz.
