New visual effects and editing software packages

Autodesk TV and Autodesk Digital Intermediate (DI) systems provide solutions for creating high-end visual effects, with editing and finishing tools for SD and HDTV projects.

Autodesk, Inc. Introduced Two computer packages that set new standards both in visual effects as in editing: Autodesk TV and Autodesk Digital Intermediate (DI). Autodesk TV Suite and Autodesk DI Suite are dual license packages that provide key solutions, thanks to the combination of the creative tools of the Discreet systems for creating gamut visual effects high, with powerful editing and finishing tools for SD and HDTV projects.

Autodesk TV Suite incorporates Flint and Smoke systems on an IBM platform IntelliStation A Pro 6224 with 8-bit HD I/O. Autodesk DI Suite incorporates DI Flame and Smoke systems on one platform composed of a SGI Terso visual workstation based on IRIS with 10-bit HD I/O and 2K HSDL.

The new Autodesk TV and DI allow our customers to accept virtually any project, from long-form editorials to creative finishes online, going through the visual effects they present a greater challenge. Flexible software architecture enables Autodesk DI Suite to achieve workflows in high-performance 2K and 4K using hardware current.

Autodesk also announced new versions of your Discreet Flint and Discreet Smoke systems for be run on personal computers (PCs). The system of Flint 9.2 visual effects and smoke 6.7 editing system support high definition (HD) processing, which allows customers to capture their ideas in both HD and HD standard definition (SD).

Characteristics of the Flint 9.2 and Smoke 6.7 systems
Flint 9.2 and Smoke 6.7 systems run 8-bit HD I/O on an IBM 6224 Linux platform and include:

  • Apple XML format support Final Cut Pro: the editorial decisions made in Final Cut Pro are transferable to Discreet systems, which simplifies the post-production process.
  • The Autodesk program WiretapTM 1.5 increases application access third parties to media starting from system media Inferno, Flame, Flint, Fire and Smoke, by Autodesk Stone brokering.
  • Dual-link HSDL support IRIX only: 2K data sent 4:2:2 on a link and 0:2:2 in a second link; 2K data through the video I/O subsystem.

In addition, Autodesk announced new versions of the Discreet visual effects and editing systems Inferno 6.2, Discreet Flame 9.2, and Discreet Fire 6.7.
