Harris Corporation announced the signing of an agreement to supply television transmitters digital and coding equipment for high definition to TV Aztec. This equipment will take HDTV to nine cities in Mexico, plan to be implemented in two stages until 2006.
Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey will have digital transmission in high definition at the end of this year. The second stage will take HDTV services to six additional cities (Matamoros, Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo, Ciudad Juarez, Mexicali and Tijuana) mid-2006.Ç
TV Azteca's initial order
includes six Harris DiamonCD DHD8P1 transmitters operating at 1.8
Kw. These transmitters have been among the most popular in the
implementation of digital television in the United States,
where more than 300 have been installed at powers ranging from 1.8
kW up to 30 kW. TV Azteca will be able to expand the DHD8P1 to obtain
increased power by installing power amplifiers and units
of power.
