NDS introduced new entertainment server systems, new software that allows consumers to access internet media directly through the set top box (STB), and developments illustrating how movies, music, games and photos can be easily and securely managed from the consumer's remote control.
Home AV Center II. NDS, in partnership with Samsung and Broadcom, demonstrated at ceS a home entertainment server system that includes a full suite of NDS software solutions: XTV HomeNet, XTV Ready and MediaHighway middleware.
The server features five tuners, a 300GB hard drive for storage, IP connectivity, two USB 2.0 ports, routing capabilities, and VoIP. With the new server, consumers can enjoy high-definition programming in multiple rooms, transfer content such as video, music, games and photos between the DVR and portable devices, and control a range of peripheral devices such as printers and surveillance cameras.
Xspace. This complete software solution for STBs with broadband connectivity makes it easy for consumers to have online access to audio and video content from their TVs. Xspace allows operators to offer their consumers access to premium broadcast and web content via hyperlinks within regular TV programming using an on-screen link. As a true, innovative and integrated experience for the consumer, Xspace provides access to a wide range of content available on the web through the STB. It also provides for the ability to search through content, so that consumers can find specific content to watch or listen to. Consumers will interact with on-demand services through an integrated Electronic Programming Guide (EPG).
