Steve Krant, who was vice president of sales and marketing at Sundance Digital from 1998 to 2007 and has been present in more than 30 NAB fairs, he focused his conference on the automation of television operations.
He indicated that automation for television is a basis for data on steroids, with machine control. This allows manage complexity, do more with less and control more channels.
According to Krant, automation has three categories: a basic one, which includes BetaCart replacement, Odetics, etc. insertion simple commercial and limited or non-control of equipment peripherals; a typical one consisting of all the functions of a master control, from one to four channels, manageable programs and insertion of commercials, wide range of control for equipment peripherals, and redundancy and growth options; and a third business covering central-cast, and multi-channel and allowing configurations with high redundancy, an expansion of a hundred channels or more, and delegate control or operate it remotely, among others.
All these transformations change the workflow, the
emphasis shifts to content preparation, less needed
time monitoring in the air, and the same number of people.
